Metal Finishes for Closet Rod, Poles, and Wardrobe Bar Tubing
Prefinished Metal is typical for this tubing. Prefinishes that are common are: Preplated Tin Plate, Galvanized and Prepainted Tubing. Other unique prefinished can be Artificial Wood Laminated Vinyl Covered Tubing that can have the woodgrain embossing or smooth finish. Besides the Vinyl Lamination a Clear Vinyl Coating can be placed on top of embossed or unembossed material to provide a strong surface that will not discolor with the constant use of hangers sliding on and off, back and forth. Some even prefer a Leathergrain Vinyl Lamination. The Vinyl Laminated Tubing is expensive in comparison to the other finishes above. Another more expensive option can be Preplated Brass with Lacqueer or Preplated Chrome. Preplated Tin Plate with a Brass or Clear coating can mimic these finishes with much less cost. We call them Sim. Brass and Sim. Chrome Finishes. Galvanized and Tin Plate are fairly standard coatings, as well as Polished Stainless, and along with some White Prepainted Steel we may have available. Pregalvanized with a Precoating of Paint over it can also be procured. With the more expensive finishes a minimum order of raw metal is required, that can be higher than some customers may want and/or need. Our Tubing makes an ideal Wardrobe Rail, Closet Rod, Closet Pole, Closet Bar, Closet Rail, Hanger Rail, and Hanger Rod.
How Closet Rods, Poles, Wardrobe Bars & Hanger Rail Tubing is Made
Closet Tubing and Wardrobe Bars are typically made from a 1" Round Tube. 3/4" Round Tubing has also been used in thicker metals. Typical thickness for the 1" Tubing can be from .014" to .018" Tin Plate and Stainless to .021" through 024" thick White Painted or Galvanized Tubing.
Our Lock Seam Tubing can be produced in thicknesses up to .060" on larger diameters but high tooling expense is usualy required and billed for the upper thicknesses. There are many other Lock Seam and Open Seam Tube Sizes that can be used. Please see our links given above.
Special Open Seam Tubing with returns coming back into the tube is shown below. Typically, this design is used when a ball and chain are attached to the Hanger Rods and Hanger Rails. This also prevents wear and scratches to the finish and color of the Hanger Rod. Typical thickness for this design is .024" and greater. This Hanger Rail is weaker than a Lock Seam Hanger Bar would be. The Lock Seam Hanger Bars are the most commonly purchased for that reason. The Special Open Seam Tubes are typically an upper scale Special Finish than the Lock Seam more standard finishes and thickness.
Wardrobe Bars can also be made as a Steel Channel, typically Galvanized with the ends Flattened and Bent. Gusset embossing may also provide extra strength. This type of Wardrobe Bar is mainly for Container and Carton use.
